Carb Off-loading

With just 3 days to go to the Brighton Marathon it's time I cut out carbohydrates from my diet completely!

I accept that this is perhaps taking things a bit far; after all my normal limit of 50 grams of carbs per day is pretty low, and one day I plan to experiment with "train low, race high"; but for now I am continuing to make the point that we do not need carbs at all to run a decent marathon.

I ran 3:32 two weeks back and hope to do a little better on Sunday.

  1. Hi Malcolm. How did the Brighton marathon go ? Your radio silence is worrying me! I'm interested to see how your re-fuelling strategy worked out. It's particularly pertinent as I'm running the Bolton Hill marathon in 4 weeks and was wanting to see how you got on.
I've recent;y come across an article that I think will be of interest to you. It suggests that although carbs are the bad guys, some proteins and therefore some high protein foods are better than others. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

  2. Hi Simon - I don't seem to be getting email alerts any more! I did do a review of the Brighton Marathon later in May.

I've put that article on my reading list, it does look interesting but it looks like it might tke some time to digest!
